Residents speak out against redesign of US 460
Residents spoke out last night against a VDOT proposal to redesign a stretch of US 460. The plan would close several median turn -arounds in the Pleasant Valley and Tyreeanna neighborhoods, forcing traffic into a jug -handle at Concord Turnpike. VDOT officials say the plan would improve safety through the corridor. But some residents said it would make it harder and take longer for local residents and emergency vehicles to get around the area. They also said reducing the speed limit would make more sense and cost a lot less. Lynchburg Fire Chief Brad Ferguson has said, under the proposal, emergency responders would lose critical minutes.
